Connect BrokerBridge to Trader Workstation Paper

You do not need to know your IP address when BrokerBridge and TWS run on the same computer. Start with TWS signed into Paper Trading, and keep authentication off-camera.

Open File, then Global Configuration, API, and Settings. Enable ActiveX and Socket Clients. Paper accounts use port 7497. Live port 7496 is reference-only in this beginner walkthrough.

In BrokerBridge, choose Trader Workstation. The paper preset fills host 127.0.0.1 and port 7497. The host means this computer. Leave Client ID automatic because BrokerBridge assigns a free local ID when it tests.

Select Test broker connection. BrokerBridge must authenticate the session, confirm paper mode, and show a masked account before setup can continue. A listening port alone is not proof.

If the test fails, confirm TWS is still signed into Paper Trading, socket clients are enabled, and the port is 7497. For another computer, use Manual connection settings and enter its reachable address. Never switch to a live port just to make the test pass.
